Editorial Reviews:

"Giddyup, giddyup as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!"

The Gingerbread Cowboy can run from the rancher, he can dash past the javelinas, and he can giddyup right by the cattle grazing on the mesa. But what happens when he meets a coyote sleeping in the sun?

Janet Squires and Holly Berry retell this classic tale with a Wild Western flair, filled with rodeo-romping fun.

Summary: Loved it!
Comment: A cowboy version of the age-old beloved gingerbread man story. I thought it was quite cute and entertaining, and bought it as a Christmas present for my grandson. I love the message this book brings, and would recommend it to anyone with a child around the age of 5-10. I don't see any kid not loving it.

Summary: Gingerbread Cowboy
Comment: In this variation on the Gingerbread Man story, the Gingerbread Cowboy encounters lizards, long-horn cattle and other animals native to the west. He doesn't meet a fox but does meet...well, I won't spoil the surprise. Illustrations seem to be taken right out of the painted desert.

Summary: Fun twist to the gingerbread man
Comment: A cute fun read. The book should come with a gingerbread recipe and a cowboy cutter. My little cowboy couldn't wait to make one and re-enact the story! If you are giving one for a present or budding cook include them!

Summary: Yee HAW!!
Comment: Nifty! It's a great twist on the classic. I collect versions of the Ginger bread. This one is a great addition. I like the ending with the fox/wolf being replaced by a coyote.

Summary: Another great gingerbread book!
Comment: As a Kindergarten teacher, I am always looking for a new twist on an old story. One of the best ways to help children to start crafting their own stories is to have them use a character they already know and change the setting or other characters in the story to make it their own. This book is a great example of doing this. My class enjoyed the book. When I lent the book to another teacher, her children loved it so they were running around the yard calling Giddy up! as they chased each other. She told me that they didn't have that reaction to the original story!
