Summary: Not as good as other ice cream books.
Comment: This book had some nice pictures, but the recipes were not as interesting as those in some other Ice Cream/ Gelato books offered by Amazon.

Summary: Best Ice cream is at home!
Comment: I got an ice cream maker for Christmas, and I have to admit: I was very skeptical. But the sales lady recommended this book and I thought, that she just wanted to make a sale. But... this is the best book in my whole kitchen library! It is easy to make the sorbets and ice cream, they taste wonderful, no, actually WONDERFUL. Never again did I buy ice cream from the store. I prepare the ice and you can keep it up to 1 week, depending on the receipe.
I would recommend this to everyone, young or old who loves ice cream!

Summary: DELICIOUS
Comment: i just got this book and an ice cream maker. the recipes in this ice cream cookbook are DELICIOUS!!! the people who complain about the recipes are nuts - they dont like waiting or the ingrendients invloved- then don't make ice cream- that's like complaining about making bread because you dont like waiting for the bread to rise. the bottom line is there may be other recipes out there and they are probably good too, but if you use these recipes you will not be dissapointed.

i have made made a few ice creams so far and they are all fantastic. very easy to make. yes there is some cool down time between cooking and making the ice cream, but the time that you are actually making this ice cream is no more than 30 mins (and 15-20 mins of that is letting the machine turn the ice cream).

Summary: Great ice cream cookbook!
Comment: William Sonoma cookbooks tend to be strong and this one is no exception. Their recipes prioritize quality over short cuts and convenience and you can taste the difference. The recipes are more labor intensive than some of the basics, but the qualitative difference is worth the extra work. Many recipes are custard based which creates an added step, but results in creamier, richer textures.

Summary: disappointed
Comment: if I had known then what I know now I would not have purchased the book,it had a four and a half rating,no one mentioned liqueur, rum, bourbon etc. or the fact that 1/2 the recipes call for 4-5-6 egg yolks. All the recipes require cooking and cooling which take up time, that's ok up to a point, but all? On the more positive side the pictures are beautiful, but I do wish I had known these things,I would not have gotten the book, and stayed with my Ben&Jerry or the recipes I found on the internet. I can't really recommend this book,as I'm not at all happy with it.
