From the author of The Wine Bible, this lively, authoritative calendar is packed with stellar recommendations plus tips, advice, history, and lore. Try Saintsbury's classic, exquisitely balanced "Toyon Farm" Pinot Noir. De Loach's smoky, intense "OFS" sauvignon blanc. Splurge on Burge: Grant Burge's "The Holy Trinity," boasting hints of eucalyptus, rich blackberry, and a dark, earthy finish. Plus Alsace's "SGN" dessert wines, getting to know Argentina's richly textured malbecs, decoding "earthy," and why you should never decant red Burgundy (pouring the wine into the decanter may cause its delicate, complex aromas to collapse).

Customer Rating: Summary: Wine trivia and food/wine pairings, quotes, it's all there. Comment: The calendar is printed in black and white. I had thought by the description it would be in color but it is not. It is printed on recycled paper so it's a little gray rather than white pages. You can use the back sides of the calendar pages to recycle for your own notes as well. The pages are matte finish.
Each day has a fact about wine, varietals, a quote from someone famous about wine, suggested food and wine pairings, specific wine producers, and then trivia questions. It's quite cute and would be make a nice gift for the wine lover.
However, if you can find a calendar that looks a little nicer than this one, I'd buy it instead. Nevertheless it is what it says it is.
