Summary: Great for BBQ Smokers
Comment: I was looking for a good book on BBQ smoker recipes because we just bought a Traeger Junion wood pellet smoker and I was at a loss on how to cook on this. This book has been very helpful, some really great ideas, it doesn't tell me how to use the smoker, but how to cook on it and that is what I was looking for.
Thank you for this book.

Summary: FORGET THE REST--THIS IS THE BEST!
Comment: I'm a pretty good cook, but I am an absolute novice when it comes to smoking.

I got about 8 or 10 books out of the library to start to get my feet wet. I quickly found I was returning to Championship BBQ Secrets time and time again. The recipes are clear, straightforward and get you through to excellent results. There are also plenty of hints, tips, variations offered throughout. The breadth of the taste variations and possibilities will keep us busy for a long time checking them out.

I have to say the the brisket and the ribs that I cooked with my first attempts came out very well. No leftovers.

The best thing about the book was that the reader is not constantly slapped up side the head with how the wonderful author is the world's best smoking chef and the litany of his or her triumphs. That got real old real quick, and turned me off several of the books very quickly. Plus, I found those were so full of the authors' self-puffery, it was near impossible to follow, find and identify anything they were trying to teach you.

I took all of the books back to the library, and I bought this one.

Summary: Super!
Comment: This book is so easy to use; my boyfriend bought a smoker and the initial one I got him was to full of so called gourmet things to cook and was useless for daily cooking; this one has many many great receipes that any man can handle, lol.

Summary: I too can smoke right along with the best of them
Comment: I've always wanted to learn the fine art of smoking meat. I always thought that it was for the professionals or the ones more experienced than I. I purchased a grill/smoker and then headed down to our library to do some learning. Wow, was I happy to learn from someone like Karen Putman. She gave great easy to understand recipes that I had no problem following. She even gave us all the right to tweak anything that she came up with and that is wonderful. I've made some great ribs and chicken, and I take my hat off to her and her great book. She has renewed my interest in barbecuing with whatever I may have at the time. The book has caused me to want to go even further than I thought possible. Thanks Karen
