Customer Rating: Summary: some winners here Comment: lots of creative new recipes I have not seen elsewhere - thoughtful recipes that are perfect for Winter evening suppers.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great casserole book for the intermediate chef Comment: I am a college student who is just figuring out the joys of cooking. This book has some great recipes that provide plenty of yummy leftovers. It does require a bit of experience in the ability to read between the lines, as it doesn't outline every step you need to take within each recipe (such as cooking the noodles BEFORE putting them in the dutch oven, my spaghetti dish turned into the now infamous "crunchy surprise"). Although, it does give great heating-time estimates so you can figure out how long you need to prepare the different parts in advance.
The recipes I've had so far aren't necessarily full of flavor, but it's easy to add one's own spices and ingredients to casseroles.
The book is a great introduction to casseroles, just be careful to read each recipe thoroughly before beginning, especially if you are a beginner cooker.
Customer Rating: Summary: Some good Some bad Comment: I was happy to see the same type of review that I am writing.. some good, some bad. And actually, I have not yet found the good one yet but there just has to be one. I tried the mac and cheese and threw the entire casserole away. I am a good cook and even in reading it, I doubted it but wanted to follow the recipe to check and it did not fail me, it was just awful. Not enough moisture, no bubbling at all. This is one of 3 casseroles I have made this winter and well, I think that I will put this cookbook back on the shelf. Too bad, the recipes sound good atleast!!
Customer Rating: Summary: favorite cookbook! Comment: We love this book! It is not for quick and easy dinners, many of them take some time and preparation, but it is worth it. Some of our favorite meals come from this book, and it's great for entertaining. We also cater and we have used recipes out of this book. The steak and artichokes with red wine, with the spinach verde is amazing! A great gift for anyone who loves to cook.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice and easy! Comment: This is a great cookbook with easy recopies that everyone in my family will eat. It is rare to find a cookbook where every recipe you make is a winner but this book is the one.
