Ultimate Bar Book is the first and only guide to classic and new drink recipes. Loaded with essential-to-know topics such as barware, tools, and mixing tips, this book has it all. As a mistress of mixology, the author has the classics down to a T -- the Martini, the Bloody Mary, plus the many variations (the Dirty Martini, the Virgin Mary). And then there are all the creative new elixirs the author brings to the table, like the Tasmanian Twister Cocktail or the Citron Sparkler. Illustrations show precisely what type of glass should be used for each drink. With dozens of recipes for garnishes, rims, infusions, and syrups; punches, gelatin shooters, hot drinks, and non-alcoholic beverages; and -- let's not forget -- an essential selection of hangover remedies, Ultimate Bar Book is nothing short of top-shelf.

Customer Rating: Summary: Easy to Reference by Drink Name or Main Ingredient Comment: I have owned The World Bartender's guide for over 10 years and became fed up with the set-up of the book (the recipes are alphabetically ordered). So I went on a search for a better book - and I found it in The Ultimate Bar Book. Not only is the book beautifully designed with a hard cover, it is also user friendly so to speak. The recipes are organized by the main alcoholic ingredient. There is also an index you can search if you know the name of a drink but not the ingredients. Highly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best Bar Book Around Comment: This book lets you sort through the recipes in a logical manner. Drinks are separated by ingredient and type of drink (eg. drinks served in a wine glass, or drinks served in a high-ball glass as well as drinks with rum or drinks with vodka)
Very easy to navigate through the book quickly to get your night started. Makes a great gift, and would definitely buy again!(I have already bought 3)
Customer Rating: Summary: Comprehensive Comment: I am enjoying this book. It has given me confidence in the art of mixology. I have become particularly interested in saki now, and hope to explore the various saki cocktails. I love having this reference at my fingertips.
Customer Rating: Summary: Comprehensive Comment: This book is an extremely comprehensive guide to setting up a bar, mixing drinks, and learning about the different alcohols that make them. If you've ever wanted to pick up casual bartending at parties, or you just want to try new drinks, this is the book for you!
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent in every way but one Comment: After owning and using this book for some time I felt compelled to share my thoughts. It's every bit as good as the other reviewers say but has one shortcoming that I haven't seen mentioned: the font is very, very small. Years ago I could have read it in dim light but now I need bright light and a carefully adjusted distance. For those for whom it makes a difference, you may want to consider a more easily read text such as Drinkology: The Art and Science of the Cocktail, which hasn't gathered quite as many accolades but is actually very similar and features a bigger font.
