Customer Rating: Summary: too good to be true?? Comment: This book and the ideas/knowledge it contains are just fantastic. No more dieting, just eating to be healthy and not stress the body. Great.
Customer Rating: Summary: Thank you Michel! Comment: I have been on every diet out there and recently came to my senses to go back to eating the Montignac way and lose weight easily!
1. He doesn't restrict portions
--> I have grave issues with portion restrictions and having someone tell me how much I can and can't eat usually causes me to overeat, because I'm not the one in control anymore. With Montignac, I am presented with the possibility to eat until I am satisfied (but not bursting at the seems) - I get to decide when enough is enough and really listen to my body.
2. Satisfy all your cravings: sweet, salty, crunchy, bitter
--> No taste bud that is left alone. I have an appetiser, an entree and a dessert at lunch and at dinner. My palate is perfectly satisfied and I feel far from deprived!
3. Carbohydrates are allowed
--> I don't know about the rest of you who have tried Atkins and South Beach, but suffice to say that my bowel did not appreciate the lack of carbohydrates. Here my body happily accepts the right kind of carbohydrates, keeping both my mood swings (when in lack of carbohydrates) and body more than just content.
4. Eat to live
--> Montignac stresses that food should be enjoyed, savouring every last ounce, not devoured in 10 minutes in between meetings. Sit down and appreciate the gourmet and luxurious tastes that are offered to you.
5. Not as expensive as it may seem
--> Yes, Montignac does offers recipes that include rabbit and other French inspired dishes, but you need not purchase rabbit to follow this diet-substitutions can be made easily. The diet is made of basic things that every supermarket has in stock: lean beef, eggs, cheese, skim milk, oats, apples, pears, green salad, tomatos, zucchini, cucumber. The only thing you may need to hunt for is the wholegrain bread, but even that is sold in the UK at Tescos! Here in the US you can find them at more European/Organic supermarkets like Trader Joe's, Whole foods, Aldi.
I would recommend this book to everyone looking to lose those lbs. It's the most enjoyable food journey you'll ever go on and will make you look as terrific as you feel after a few weeks following Montignac's culinary recommendations.
Customer Rating: Summary: Second rate Comment: This North American edition of Montignac's method is of a much lower quality to the European english edition. There are fewer recipes. The recipes included involve special items such as powdered milk - is this a food item for a so-called food lover?!
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent! Comment: Is a very good book, written very easy to read, explains everything you need to know to learn the GOOD eating habits. I recomend everyone should read the book and make life changes for the humanity health. WE REALLY SHOULD STOP EATING BAD FOODS AND START CHOOSING GOOD FOODS FOR OUR HEALTH, at the end we are what we eat!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great book Comment: I've read both this book, and the South Beach diet. I believe that both books complete each other. South Beach mentions "GI" (Glycemic index), but doesn't really get much into it. This one explains it in detail, and also explains eating habits in different ways too.
While Phase 1 in this book isn't as drastic as Phase 1 in South Beach diet, it is a longer phase. I feel more comfortable with the end phase here because the chances of falling back into bad old habits are less if you take this seriously. Great read, the only down side with this diet is that there isn't as much of a following, or help on the internet as South Beach or Atkins does.
