Customer Rating: Summary: Just the right amount of information Comment: I bought this book based on other customers' reviews, and I am very glad I did. I compared it with some other famous baby food books, and this one is by far my favorite. I like how the recipes are grouped by age-group (6-9 months, 9-12 months, etc.). I like how there are instructions for different cooking methods. I like how it includes recipes you can use later, after the baby is finished with 'baby food" and ready for finger foods and table foods.
Other books have so much information and so many "tips" that I feel overwhelmed. This book has the perfect balance of information and recipes, which is what parents actually want!
Customer Rating: Summary: You don't have to be completely organic Comment: I can't afford all organic food right now, so I just buy the ordinary stuff which works just fine. I really enjoy using this book. Her directions for the food prep, with different options are helpful when you don't have much time to devote to the process. The recipes encourage me to not be afraid to let my baby try new things. I hope that by trying out a new recipe every few days, this will help my baby not become as big of a picky eater as her dad! Only issue: watch out for allergies. Read up on what not to feed your baby somewhere else, that incorporate that into your meal plans.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great book, just watch some of food recommendations Comment: I first used this book with my first son. I made quite a few recipes and happily bought little to no store baby food. Everything is easy. Instructions are easy. I'm now using it again with my second son. It's been a great help and I love the recipes for older children as the are good for the whole family.
The negative. Some recipes include ingredients that based on other sources should not be served to children until later. I'm prety strict with these things so I don't follow all the book's guidance. Example I waited on eggs and dairy until after 1. I also limit the cookies and cakes but the book has a few more recipes for these type items than I thought was needed. But again, I'm pretty strict with these things.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best baby cookbook ever Comment: This was the first baby cookbook I ever purchased. My little girl is now 2 years old and I still use the cookbook. I make meals and snacks for her and myself using the book. The delicious recipes are just the bonus to this great book. The information about food and children was especially beneficial. If anyone I know is having a baby I get them this book.
Customer Rating: Summary: Easy basic recipies; organic focus Comment: Provides the recipes to take your baby through the puree stage and beyond. No baby could possibly eat 50 or 100 different purees; this cookbook gives a realistic number, including the basics (e.g., pears, sweet potatoes) as well as some combos I would not have thought of myself (e.g., black beans and plain yogurt to make baby bean dip). I like the fact that there are recipes to suit the different eating stages of toddlers, so the cookbook will grow with your child. Some of the (low-sugar) cookie recipes sound yummy even to me!!
