Summary: Awful to read, worse to look at!
Comment: I am shocked at the earlier 5-star reviews of this book, and have to wonder if the author's friends submitted them! This book is so poorly written, and looks like a scrapbook from the 80s. Obvious that there was little to no editing in this book, and that goes for the photography as well as written content. The pictures looked washed out, and the party designs, plating, food...everything looks completely outdated! Sorry to be so harsh...not a good book at all.

Summary: What a disappointment!
Comment: After reading all of the five star ratings, I was so excited to get this book. It was a huge disappointment! First of all, there are so many obvious spelling and grammatical errors that it's a serious distraction - the very first sentence of this book by a professional party planner has the word "planner" spelled incorrectly! I know this isn't a textbook on English grammar but the overall feel is that this book was slapped together with so little care or thought (which would seem to contradict a professional planner's aesthetic) with the hope that the celebrity name dropping and many color photos would carry the book (it doesn't). I buy books like this to be able to see things in fresh and different ways and this book just didn't do it for me. Although there are plenty of color photos, I found the pictures were not very inspiring and the tips and recipes were banal. It's probably not the worst out there but certainly not worthy of five stars in my book.

Comment: Straight from New York Party Planner, Linnea Johansson, this is an excellent guide to planning a party. Flowers, décor, cocktail and appetizer recipes, and many more tips fill these pages. If you are planning a wedding, anniversary, or just a killer bash, pick this up.

Summary: I am now a master party planner!
Comment: I really liked the mixed content of this book. Lots of party planning tips AND lots of recipes, and all felt young and fresh! After I bought Perfect Parties I've thrown three events at home and each time I've found lots of inspiration and ideas although the parties have all been very different from each other. It's a slam dunk, and a great book to have at home when you need that little extra help to throw a fab party. Linnea might be the next Martha Stewart!

Summary: Easy and Interesting
Comment: Im not a big creative party planner! But I love to have people at my house...This book has helped me with creatve inoovatve and most of all EASY tipa ad ideas how to have a fun different part! The language is good, and it is really easy to navigate throughout the book. Personally I love to have something look complcated but it is so easy to do! Kudos to authors!!
