Editorial Reviews:

Geography is a mirror: every nation sees itself in its natural places. Here are a naturalist-photographer's most beautiful faces: These are Andrés Hurtado Garcia's best images of a half-century of looking intensely at the land that is Colombia; a wilderness tour that includes close photographic details like cryptic aboriginal hyeroglyphics on giant rocks as well as sweeping views of the alta montana. Hurtado is a South American Edward Weston, a self-taught, nomadic photographer. Here are the most exciting places he has discovered in decades of wandering: hidden beaches, remote lakes, and unnamed volcanic craters; the little-explored rivers of the Amazon; seductive landscapes of the Orinico. Naturalists and travelers will discover here a South America only Hurtado knows intimately: photographs that capture all the seductive landscapes of Colombia

Summary: Unseen Colombia
Comment: I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia, in the 70's working in National Parks. So I saw alot of Wild Colombia, this book goes many places no one knew about in the 70's. And shows it in great photos and stories of the people involved. Great insight into the wild beauty of a still spectacular country.

Summary: Absolutely Beautiful
Comment: Colombia's beauty is exposed at its most: mountains, rivers, deserts, forests... its varied ecosystems -- from the rich tropical rainforest to the coastal cloud forests to the open savannas.

Summary: Great view of Colombia
Comment: Living in Colombia for a year I found this book to show areas of Colombia I have seen and then some. It is one if not the most beautiful country in the world. Colombia has a bad rep, don't let the American press fool you, look at this book and let it be the start of your search for the real Colombia, one of passions, diversity and paridise. The stories go well with the pictures to paint a picture that can draw one in.
