I haven't really gotten a chance to test it out on a soaking wet area of ground yet, but it's been in heavy use since we got it (bought two actually - one for our van, the other for our bike for stops and picnics). It's a good compact size, but still ample for 2-3 adults or 4-5 children. Folding it is a bit worse than folding a map to get it so that the handles will match up, but big deal.
