Editorial Reviews:

In Semi-Homemade 20-Minute Meals 2, Sandra Lee delivers another delicious collection of timesaving, shortcut meals that use the 70% store bought and 30% “fresh” or homemade formula. The cookbook features 60 perfect meal pairs, so there is no time wasted guessing which main dish will go with which side dish. And, if the occasion calls for it, there are chapters on tempting Treats and Starters, all designed to maximize flavor and minimize your time in the kitchen.

Comment: I was not fond of this book but I guess when you are shooting for 20 minutes what do you really expect? I would not buy this book if I were you.

Summary: If you like fast and easy, this is the book for you!
Comment: This is the third cookbook by Sandra Lee that I have purchased. I have been very happy with all three, and especially this one. Each meal is extremely tasty and I have no problem substituting items I wouldn't normally use. For instance, in a recipe she recommends instant mashed potatoes--which I am strictly against. But, I find it very easy to whip up some mashed potatoes and add her other ingredients. The recipes come out great everytime! I highly recommend it.

Summary: even better than the first 20 minute cookbook
Comment: There are many people who turn their noses up at Sandra Lee but I must tell you - I find her cookbooks lovely to look at, well-written and the food super easy for busy people to deal with. Her Semi-Homemade philosophy was something I was already doing somewhat in my own kitchen; depending upon short-cuts to get good meals prepared quickly.

Sometimes I want to do the whole "Slow Food" thing. That is great when I have the time. But when I have been working for 10 hours and I just want to make some good food, Sandra Lee saves the day.

I liked her first 20 minute meals book rather well but this one is even better. I have all of her cookbooks except the one on desserts because I never make desserts - that one is 100 percent purchased in the store for me! I am not a baker or a pastry chef so why even pretend to be.

I enjoy her show on the Food Network but I was a fan of hers before she was ever on the network and had put out two cookbooks, Cooking 1 and Cooking 2.

Her personal story is also very inspirational. She has been through so much and yet still has amazing optimism and strong values. Sandra Lee is very likable as well as a kitchen whiz!

Don't hate her because she is a gorgeous blonde - her soul is absolutely BRUNETTE!
